New Horizons - February 2017

Volunteers are key to supporting our work as a charity. We have opportunities for anyone with relevant skills and experience of facilitating and supporting this kind of work to get involved with the delivery of some of our ongoing day events. This may lead to further support on our residential events.

This is challenging and rewarding work, and if you feel you have something to offer please send us an email.

If you have attended one of our residentials and would like to become a volunteer staff member...

We are currently looking for new volunteer trustees with skills and experience in HR and fundraising.

Just as we ask our participants to bring their whole selves to this inclusive project, we are interested in bringing in trustees who are willing to do the same: ready to engage in authentic communication, and to participate in team building and therapeutic activities in support of the whole.

You can find more details on role descriptions here and please contact us if you are interested.

I became a volunteer at Write to Freedom after enrolling as a student on a course which involved a wilderness weekend on Dartmoor. I overcame a lot of my anxieties because of this and I’m currently volunteering as admin staff. I am thoroughly enjoying it. Write to Freedom has ignited an enthusiasm for life that I thought I’d lost.

I have gained experience in an office environment, which is all new to me as I’ve never worked in an office like this one. It has focused my mind on to training, which I am now currently pursuing. My confidence in myself and my skills are rapidly growing directly because of my involvement with the Write to Freedom Project. I love to learn new things and Write to Freedom has taught me a lot already in the few short months that I have been with them.

I have been supported and encouraged all the way by the other members of staff and I have felt very welcomed as a member of the team.
