Thanks for visiting Rite to Freedom! When it comes to your personal information, we believe in transparency. We’ve set out here what information we collect, what we do with it and your choices and rights.

1. How does this Privacy Policy apply?

This Privacy Policy describes what we do with any personal information that we collect.

2. Personal information we collect and how we collect it

We collect personal information through our registration forms if you sign up to attend one of our events, and if you send us an email through our website. This includes the following:

  • Email address

  • First and last name

  • Date of birth

  • Address

  • Other specified details about your life - we treat this as sensitive personal data

We also take photographs on our events to use for our own publicity purposes but only with your explicit consent.

3. How we use your personal information

We use the personal information that you give us to:

  • Book you onto an event and to help us decide whether our events are suitable for you at this time.

  • Communicate with you about any forthcoming events we have that we think you may be interested in.

  • Photographs for publicity used on the Rite to Freedom website, any printed material for Rite to Freedom, and any publicity relating to the work of Rite to Freedom.

We process your personal information for the above purposes on the legal basis of:

  • Consent. You have consented to the use of your personal information in a particular way. When you consent, you can change your mind at any time. 

4. How we share your personal information

We do not share any of your personal information with anybody.

Photographs are used for our own publicity with your written consent, taken at the time of photography.

5. Your rights and choices

Where applicable law requires (and subject to any relevant exceptions under law), you may have the right to access, update, change or delete personal information.

You can request access, update, change or delete personal information by contacting us at info@ritetofreedom.org.uk to request the required changes. You can exercise your other rights by contacting us at the same email address. You do not need to complete a form but we may require to confirm your identity before responding to your request.

Where we rely on consent for the use of any photographs, you have the right to withdraw it at any time. When you do so, this will not affect the lawfulness of the use before your consent withdrawal.

6. How we protect your personal information

While no service is completely secure, our small team is dedicated to keeping personal information safe. We maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards that are intended to appropriately protect against accidental or unlawful destruction, accidental loss, unauthorized alteration, unauthorized disclosure or access, misuse and any other unlawful form of processing of, the personal information in our possession.

7. How we retain your personal information

We retain personal information regarding you for as long as you are active within Rite to Freedom, unless we explicitly hear from you otherwise. Every October we review all the data that we hold and if you have not been active with Rite to Freedom in the previous year we will delete all your personal information. Unless you specify otherwise will keep your name and email address so that we can contact you about future events. We may continue to use any photographs that you are in for as long as Rite to Freedom is active, or you ask us to remove them. 

8. Data transfers

Personal information that we hold about you may be transferred to countries other than where you live, such as, for example, to any staff member working in another country. Your personal information may be transferred to countries that do not have the same data protection laws as the country in which you initially provided the information.

This is not routine practice at Rite to Freedom but we want to make you aware of the possibility of this.

9. Updates to this Privacy Policy

We will update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, law, our charity operations or any other reason we determine is necessary or appropriate. When we make changes, we’ll update the date at the top of the Privacy Policy. 

We encourage you to check back periodically to review this Privacy Policy for any changes since your last visit. This will help ensure you better understand your relationship with us, including the ways we process your personal information.
